The Story of Bhagath Mahalsapathi

Bhakth Mahalsapathi
Bhakth Mahalsapathi is the foremost and the first devotee of Lord Shirdi Sai Baba.

Mahalsapathi is the chief priest of Khandoba Temple in Shirdi, Maharashtra whose presiding deity is Lord Khandoba. Lord Khandoba happens to be the local deity of Shirdi people.

Khandoba Temple circa 1858
One fine day, a young fakir whose face was radiating warmth and love came to Shirdi along with the marriage party of one Chand Bhai Patil of Dhoopkhera village. When the marriage party landed at the temple premises, the fakir alighted from the tonga, a horse-drawn cart.

Mahalsapathi Welcoming Sai
Bhagat Mahalsapathi when saw HIM suddenly uttered the words in pleasant delightful tone, "Ya Sai" as if they were friends from years together. Yes, they were known to each other for ??? janmas or generations.

Ever since this fakir came to be known as Sai...Sai Baba... or Shirdi Sai Baba...

Bhakth Mahalsapathi is the most blessed saint of Shirdi, for  sixty + years he literally shared and enjoyed the holy company of our Gracious Lord Shirdi Sai Baba.
